Todd Guthrie Obituary

Todd Blythe Guthrie was born on April 3, 1965 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the first child to bless the lives of his biological parents, Jean Ellen Guthrie and Ronald James Guthrie.  He departed this life on February 6, 2024 into the arms of The Lord.

Todd, who was affectionately called “Toddie B,” by family and friends, was delivered by the late Dr. Luther Judson Lemon at Catherine Booth Hospital.  Todd was a good baby and a quiet and mild-mannered child. He attended St. Agnes School on California Ave., now under Xavier Jesuit Academy. He continued his education at Woodward High School.

Todd showed an interest in modeling at the young age of 12.  He modeled for the former NIP magazine in the early 1970s.  He also modeled for NIP with his youngest, biological sister Jill Guthrie.  Todd and Jill were the brother and sister modeling team for the magazine.  Todd was  the star of the team.  He was also  known for his  full- length brown leather coat and mini afro.  When it came to modeling, he clearly outshined his younger sister.

He received his education at Woodward High School. Todd enrolled in Job Corps of Cincinnati.  The agency sent him to Grand Rapids, Michigan to work for several months.  Todd left Cincinnati, well stocked with clothing and money from his father, to live in Grand Rapids.  He shared his clothing with his job mates who had very little.  Todd later returned to Cincinnati and successfully completed the two-to-three year process of applying for SSI. He was responsible for orchestrating his own clothing, food and income.  He lived successfully in a group home for 17 years.

He loved listening to WCIN’s Lincoln Ware and the music the station played.  Todd was mechanically inclined.  He was good with his hands and loved to fix things.  He was also generous with his sister Jill, who was three years his junior. Todd graciously gave Jill $3000 for her car.  She, in turn, used the car to drive Todd and her mother to fancy restaurants such as The Celestial, Omni Netherland and Covington’s revolving restaurant.   Todd was preceded In death by his father Ronald James Guthrie (a U.S. Navy veteran) on May 28, 2016.

His memory will forever be cherished by his mother, Jean Ellen Guthrie; his sister, Jill R. Guthrie; his God Mother, Laura Thompson.  He will also be dearly missed by a host of other relatives and friends.
